Neal Schon Tease Journey, Def Leppard Tour Announcement

Journey guitarist Neal Schon says a big tour announcement is coming "soon," concerning his band's plans with Def Leppard

Schon teased the announcement in an Instagram post prior to his guest appearance on the G3 tour with Joe Satriani, John Petrucci and Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen.

Schon's tease comes about a week after Journey drummer Steve Smith confirmed that there were touring plans between Journey and Def Leppard in an interview with Marin Independent Journal

Schon and Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott are scheduled to be in New York City this week meeting with press.

The world tour is expected to keep both bands occupied for up to six months.

Collen has said in recent interviews that he's hoped Def Leppard and Journey get a chance to tour together again.

The presumed announcement comes after a tumultuous year for Journey, in which Schon said Journey were at a "breaking point," mostly over tension between Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain

Schon and Cain have been at odds over politics and religion.

Cain, a born-again Christian, has close ties to the Trump Administration through his wife Paula White-Cain and was also supposedly lobbying for the band to take on a more Christian image.

Schon, one of two remaining members from Journey's original lineup with bassist Ross Valory, has maintained (over a number of social media rants against Cain) that he won't allow the band to adopt a particular political or religious position and risk excluding its fans.

The guitarist had hinted at increased solo work in 2018 and even put together a concert to benefit victims of the California wildfires with original Journey keyboardist and singer Gregg Rolie
