Today I filed a lawsuit in Franklin County to try to #SaveTheCrew and keep the black and gold in Columbus. You can read the full lawsuit here: https://t.co/hK8TG4REOB #CrewSC pic.twitter.com/tYmFTAU7DP— Ohio AG Mike DeWine (@OhioAG) March 6, 2018
The state of Ohio and the city of Columbus want to prevent the Crew from moving to Austin. Yesterday, the Ohio state Attorney General Mike DeWine's office and the city of Columbus filed a lawsuit against Columbus Crew club owner Precourt Sports Ventures. Precourt is looking into relocating the team to Austin, Texas if conditions there for a new stadium can be agreed upon.
The legal action is based on a state law that provides for allotting the time necessary for another group to put together a plan to purchase the team, in this case, so as to be able to keep the Crew in Columbus.
