Halsey Reveals Why She 'Didn't Feel Right' Going To The 2018 MTV VMAs

Halsey didn't receive any nominations for her videos at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards and that was a good enough reason for her to skip out on the Monday (August 20) spectacle at Radio City Music Hall.

During the star-studded ceremony, one fan on Twitter asked the 23-year-old why she wasn't at the show and her response was all too telling. "Bc I directed all my own music videos this album just to have @MTV "" me to death and not nominate me for anything so it didn't feel right to go," she explained. "I'm happy you guys liked the videos. That's all that matters to me." Halsey's 2017 sophomore album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, included three self-directed music videos: "Now or Never," "Bad at Love" and "Alone."

Nonetheless, the pop star did make it out for VMA festivity when she was spotted holding hands with her former flame G-Eazy while walking out of an afterparty. Even though the rapper was spotted entering 1 OAK by himself, he left the venue hand-in-hand with the pop star around 4:40 AM, before the two hopped into the same car together. Halsey was the first to address their breakup via Instagram Story in July, writing, "I normally keep this kind of thing private but provided our public nature I feel I need to inform my fans. G-Eazy and I are taking some apart ... Thanks for respecting our privacy at this time."
