Earnings Up 718% At Nation's Largest Egg Producer

Remember how egg prices went way up and suddenly they became a luxury item instead of a kitchen staple? Inflation and supply chain issues may not have been to blame after all.

Cal-Maine Foods, a Mississippi-based company that controls nearly 20% of the US egg market, saw a 718% surge in profits last year quarter.

Some politicians are accusing the company of price gouging.

Company representatives couldn't be reached for comment as they're busy diving into their new pools filled with gold coins à la Scrooge McDuck.*

*I'm a little worried some people won't realize that's a joke. It is. Diving into a pool of gold coins would hurt a lot.
