Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler and Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt have teamed up on a rockin' version of The Rolling Stones' "Brown Sugar" for an upcoming tribute album.

The track comes from Muscle Shoals...Small Town, Big Sound, which is in tribute to the legendary FAME Studios in Alabama, where hundreds of iconic rhythm and blues, soul, funk and rock and roll records were cut.

The album was put into motion by Rodney Hall, whose father, FAME Studios owner Rick Hall, passed away earlier this year at age 85.

Rick Hall was a multi-time Grammy Award-winning producer, songwriter, who helped develop the careers of Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Etta James and The Allman Brothers Band, among many others.

Rodney's idea was to have contemporary artists cover songs famously created at Muscle Shoals.

Tyler and Aerosmith are spending the rest of the year preparing for their 50th anniversary celebration next spring.

Bettencourt and Extreme are reportedly plotting a new album this fall.
