Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner was identified by the investment firm as one of the victims killed in the shooting in New York City on Monday (July 28).

"We are heartbroken to share that our colleague, Wesley LePatner, was among those who lost their lives in the tragic incident at 345 Park Avenue," Blackstone said in a statement to NBC News. "Words cannot express the devastation we feel."

"Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed. She was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond. She embodied the best of Blackstone," the firm added.

Blackstone said its prayers were with LePatner's "husband, children and family," and added that it was "also saddened by the loss of the other innocent victims as well, including brave security personnel and NYPD."

At least four people were killed after a gunman opened fire inside 345 Park Ave., a Manhattan high-rise corporate building, which houses Blackstone and the NFL's headquarters, Monday evening, NBC News reports. The suspected shooter, who was identified as Shane Devon Tamura, 27, was reported to have a "documented mental health history" prior to the incident.

Tamura was armed with an M4 rifle and opened fire in the lobby and later the 33rd floor before eventually killing himself, New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed via NBC News.
